Regional riding guide
Kvarner sits where the Istrian peninsula, the northern Adriatic islands and the first high ground of the Dinarides meet. A rider can leave the Rijeka coast, climb through forest on Učka or commit to a ferry-linked island day without covering a large area.
On the road
The published routes favour paved touring but differ sharply in rhythm. Učka delivers a short mountain crossing with repeated bends, Cres and Lošinj add narrow island roads and ferry timing, while the Adriatic Coastal Road begins with a longer southbound coastal stage.
When to go
April to June and September to October usually offer the best balance of daylight and manageable coastal traffic. In every season, check strong-wind conditions, mountain weather and current ferry information before departure.
